Group facilitation–clarifying intentions and actions

A group, including the potential funder, the staff of a USAID project and three Afghan partner organizations, was drawn together to design a food supplement program for infants that would have large social marketing and research components. Working under a three-day deadline, a half-day meeting clarified what the Government of Afghanistan wanted for health outcomes, what the donor was prepared to fund and what the three partners could contribute to the implementation of the plan.

Proposal development–expressing plans

The proposal was drafted using the presentations developed in the meeting and circulated to the principles. The final report, with financial and timetable annexes, was delivered in three days. The proposal was later accepted by the Government of Afghanistan and approved by the international funding agency.
